Dahil sa rhyming sound ng IPhone at ipon, ito ang madalas ginagamit to compare spending and saving, but I believe that Iphone stands for every consumer products that we are hooked up on.

But, masama nga bang magmay-ari ng mga consumer products such as smart phones? In the eyes of a saver, it might be wrong but in the eyes of a spender, ano naman ang masama doon? But in my eyes, it depends. (wink)

There are times that a smartphone can become a need. It depends on the purpose. It depends on how you’ll use it. I for one can say that my phone is a need. Apart from the main functions na calling and text messaging, my phone becomes a necessity because of the following reasons:

*I regularly check my emails on my phone.

*I use my phone as my dictionary when communicating with others na hindi masyadong nakakaintindi ng English.

*I use my phone as my guide dahil sa mga apps tulad ng GPS, Google maps and the like, hindi na ako madalas mawala kapag maghahanap ako ng isang lugar.

*I do business transactions on my phone, too tulad ng online trading sa stock market

*And I use my phone as an e-wallet.

In the mindset of a saver, it is about knowing your priorities, delaying your gratification and thinking for your comfortable future.

So, sa pagbili ng mga consumers products, Iphone man ito o hindi, it’s always nice to consider whether is it the right time for us to buy this particular item or maybe later na because there are still other necessities na mas mahalaga.

Tulad nga ng sabi ko sa 3 Easy Ways to Save for Starters, “Think of the long term and not just of the short term. Forget good things for great things. Forget the ordinary for the extraordinary.”

At sabi rin ni Bo Sanchez ng Truly Rich Club, “we should pray for money machines and not for things because if we have money machines, we can have the things”.
